Behaviour Coaching and Consultancy in Schools
The Department for Education’s Inclusive Education Support Program is available to all students across South Australia, including public schools as well as independent and Catholic schools.
Behaviour Support and Therapy provides services in schools funded by schools or by individuals and their parents access supports through their NDIS plans.
We offer training and consultancy services to schools in relation to behaviour management, delivered by registered specialist behaviour support practitioners, who specialises in supporting children living with a disability to be included and engage better at school.
We can develop training and consultancy services tailored to need and budget, including the following services:
- Developing training manuals to support the training of staff and parents/support people. Training manuals are tailored to the need and can focus on goals identified by the organisation, which may relate to specific students, cohorts or circumstances. Manuals identify and emphasise the importance of prevention strategies to mitigate difficult or challenging behaviours, as well as the identification of practical de-escalation pathways consistent with the school’s existing procedures.
- Training to support the roll out and embedding of training manual content for school staff. Training manuals are intended to support the future roll out of training by the organisation itself.
- Observations, investigations, assessments and interviews to gather information to better inform planning and training
- Supervision, training and debriefing sessions for school staff directly impacted by a challenging circumstance.
- Developing, functional behavioural and biopsychosocial assessments, positive Behaviour Support Plans, action and support plans targeting goals and individual behaviours. Further information can be found here.
- Attending case conferences, planning meetings and re-entry meetings to assist by making recommendations that support repair and resolution.
- Providing individual therapeutic sessions to individuals or groups (for example onsite therapy for multiple students). Further information can be found here.
- Conducting assessments of environmental impacts (physical and online) on students and school staff to assist in prevention and enhancing the autonomy of students.
- Providing support to the development and implementation of One Plans and Disability Access and Inclusion Plans
