Early Childhood Early Intervention
The NDIS’ Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) program is for children under 7 years old who have a disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or developmental delay. Early childhood is a crucial time for development and there is evidence that providing early support for children with developmental delay or disability and their families can positively affect the child’s longer-term developmental trajectory.
Our ECEI program has a particular emphasis on the behavioural development and social and emotional development domains. We provide strategies designed to equip those around children to feel confident in supporting the child’s development. We specialise in:
- Play therapy sessions, including Marte Meo
- Providing behaviour therapy services to help minimise behaviours of concern
- Attachment based therapy
- Functional video analysis
- Developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans designed to manage problematic behaviours (behaviours of concern)
We have helped children and their families to:
- Succeed at toilet training
- Learn to manage change and transitions
- Reduce behaviours of concern e.g. aggression, physical and emotional outbursts
- Stop absconding (running away) from school, home or when they are in the community
- Manage sensory needs e.g. sensitivity to environment, textures, food, sound, smell etc
- Improve concentration, memory and planning skills
- Improve emotional regulation and build relationships
- Improve interpersonal communication
- Develop independent play skills
- Manage other behaviours that may be socially inappropriate or challenging
