NDIS and Young people
The NDIS’ Early Intervention program is for clients under 18 years age who have a permanent disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, neurological disabilities or psychosocial disability.
We work with a diverse range of young people and support them to achieve a broad range of NDIS goals. Our work is not limited to any particular disability or behavioural presentation. However, we have particular expertise supporting young people to gain independence, build relationships and manage difficult behaviours.
We regularly support our young clients transitioning from primary school to high school or from high school to further study or employment. We work with the social networks around our clients, going into settings such as school, workplaces, training facilities and other community settings. In these settings and in clinic we assist our clients to manage the challenges of daily life, including:
- Self-harm and anxiety
- Communication issues
- Independent living and daily routine, including moving out of home
- Socialising, making new friends and participating in the community
- Getting a driver’s license
- Using public transport
- Education around sexuality and safety in the community
We provide support tailored to the needs of our clients, including:
- Specialist Behaviour Support, including developing Behaviour Support and Management Plans and delivering training in Behaviour Management Strategies
